IVRC 2010 MEMBERSHIP DUES:  Dues payments are now being accepted and are due by the end of the year.  See the Treasurer for details and to make payment.  Don't forget to renue your AMA also.

INDOOR FLYING IN LOSTANT BEGINNING MONDAY NOVEMBER 9, 6:30 PM: Dynamic Balsa and Hobby Supply is sponsoring indoor flying again this year at the Lostant Grade School Gym starting November 9.  They intend to fly every Monday but Brian said to check the Dynamic Balsa website for changes especially around the Holidays before coming.  The website is www.dbalsa.com.  Brian says any airplane or helicopter under two pounds can fly.  AMA will be required to fly so If you do not have one you can go to the AMA Website at www.modelaircraft.org.

INDOOR FLYING IN THE HINKLEY GYM EVERY SATURDAY EVENING:  The RC Dusters and Kishwaukee RC Flyers fly at the Hinkley Little Rock Grade School Gym every Saturday evening.  According to the Kishwaukee RC Flyers web site members of the sponsoring clubs and their guests only are allowed to fly there.  It is not open for general flying.  Dave Erlenbach and  John Lombardozzi  are members of both IVRC and the RC Dusters Club so they could provide additional details.

John Prey:  John's son Greg was at the Illinois Valley Flying Club Breakfast with a breifcase full of information about his father John.  John is in his 80's and lives in Oglesby and operated the Overhead Door Company.  John was an officer and fighter and bomber pilot in WWll.  He flew 49 missions and was in the plane for his 50'th when it was called off at the end of the war.  Most pilots flew only 25 missions but John kept going back trying for 50.  Greg had many original pictures that his dad took during his missions.  He had a hand written spirall notepad his dad kept listing and detailing all missions in date order.  All in all it was quite impressive.  My wife's cousin from Oglesby knows John and says he is likeable and quiet  I guess there are heroes around that we are not aware of.  If you get a chance to look at the photo's and log book that Greg has it would be worth it.  If you meet John now you know a little more about him.  Quite a hero!

WEBSITE AUTHORS WANTED:  We could use some more authors to add content to this site.  Dave Erlenbach has been a workhorse but could use some help to keep the site fresh.  It is easier than it looks.  If you would like to help send me an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or give me a call.

POWERPOINT SLIDE SHOWS:  Check out Bill Bowers Slide Shows.  His brother-in-law sends them to him.  He is a retired pilot and I think was in the service.

Float Fly:  If anyone is interested in flying off water the Lone Point Shelter is available and makes a good site.  The Starved Rock Visitors Center told me that we do not need to register or do anything special to use the site to fly when we expect less than 25 people at a time.  If over 25 people are expected we should register with Starved Rock.  The AMA Club Services told me that AMA Members are covered by their AMA Insurance when flying at the Point Shelter.  Let me know if you would like me to post an informal float fly  date on the website.  I may be able to get a boat if needed.  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
